1 Week To Go
This year's event marks the 12th time we gather in central Idaho. For some of you this is an annual life-giving pilgrimage, for others it is the first time. In fact almost half of you this year have never participated in Rebecca's Private Idaho, and it speaks volumes of the reach we have had throughout the country with almost every corner of our great United States represented in one place at the same time.
Whether you're flying, driving, or riding, please travel safe. We will see you in a week's time, and share Labor Day together while experiencing the most beautiful gravel race in America.
Riders to be blessed by the Northern Shoshone-Bannock.
Rebecca's Private Idaho Sun Valley gratefully takes place on National Forest Land, including the Lost River Ranger District of the Salmon-Challis National Forest, Sawtooth National Recreation Area, and Ketchum Ranger Districts of the Sawtooth National Forest, all of which are ancestral lands of the Shoshone-Bannock Tribe.
This year for the first time in our history, members of the Shoshone-Bannock will be a pointed, and meaningful presence at Rebecca's Private Idaho. At the start of our 2024 edition, and to celebrate our 12th year, they will perform a smudging ceremony that you may respectfully observe, and are welcome, and encouraged to participate as you make your way to our staging line on the morning of September 1st in Festival Meadows.
A significant number of Shoshone-Bannock will be in Ketchum and Sun Valley for the region's annual Wagon Days representing the Native American culture which has existed here since long before the official founding of these towns, or the influx of non-Native settlers.
The presence of the Shoshone-Bannock during Labor Day weekend involves a labor-intensive effort to exhibit and share their culture with the thousands who observe Wagon Days. We wholeheartedly believe this deserves our support. We draw your attention to a current GoFundMe fundraiser and encourage you to contribute if you are so inclined.
