Stage 1: Thursday, August 29
Experience the Boulder Mountains of The Rocky's.
Harriman Trail: 35 MI | 3,505' -- GPX | STRAVA
Rebecca's Private Idaho takes place in the Rocky Mountains. What? Yeah -- Sometimes the obvious just isn't. We can tend to make things a little obscure when we say things like "Harriman Trail", "Bitterroots", "Boulder Mountains", and "Yeehaw". These are the places and phrases we are familiar with, but you might not be. Just because you travel the country in pursuit of the next big bike race doesn't mean you're a geography major. So let's set it straight...
Rebecca's Private Idaho in its entirety (all four days) takes place right in the middle of North America's largest mountain range that stretches over 3,000 miles all the way from New Mexico to the Yukon Territory. In fact, the majority of the entire state of Idaho is made up of the Rocky's, not potato fields. Not acknowledging this while racing our bikes back to back for half a week is a silly thing we do because we've grown so familiar with this place we forget to remind the rest of the world what it actually is.
Stage 1 of Rebecca's Private Idaho takes place on Harriman Trail.
The stage is called "Harriman Trail" because it takes place on the Harriman Trail and links in some incredible, twisty, punchy single-track. It's serious about fun, and probably the best icebreaker any multi-day race could possibly start with. The entire course is nestled at the foot of the Boulder Mountains in central Idaho, just a slice of mountainous earth within the greater Rocky Mountains majestic enough to have its own distinction.
These mountains, part of the Idaho-Bitterroot Rocky Mountains, are renowned for their stunning alpine lakes, glacial basins, and panoramic vistas that will leave you in awe at every turn.
The Harriman Trail offers a perfect blend of challenge and beauty, making it an ideal start to our 12 year old gravel race. As you ride, you'll be treated to the serene sounds of the Big Wood River and the invigorating scent of pine in the crisp mountain air. This is more than just a race; it's a journey through some of Idaho's most pristine wildlands, where every mile brings you closer to nature and yourself.
A-La-Carte
In a departure from previous editions of RPI, each stage is now its own race, scored and awarded by itself across various age and gender categories. You can sign up for Stage 1: Harriman Trail without having to sign up for any of the other days. Learn more about the event here.
